About Attorney Kathleen Curtin
Interested in learning more about our QDRO support?
Curtin Law, LLC was established in 2010 by Attorney Kathleen Curtin. She recognized early in her legal career that the division of retirement benefits can be confusing and costly for those who are in the throes of divorce settlement negotiations.
Attorney Kathleen Curtin is a sole practitioner who concentrates in personalized and cost effective QDRO support for attorneys and clients. Kathleen focuses on the desired outcome and builds a plan to provide efficient legal services, which include negotiation, mediation and litigation.
Attorney Kathleen Curtin brings almost three decades of corporate experience and knowledge to her practice. She began her professional career at an international chemical manufacturing company. Kathleen quickly climbed the corporate ladder to ultimately become the top global quality officer.
Her corporate position allowed Kathleen to study law and, within a couple of months of attending law school, she recognized it was a new career path she wanted to explore. Upon graduating, Kathleen began some pro bono work for non-profit legal organizations and identified the need for dedicated QDRO support. Curtin Law was then launched to concentrate on this area of family law.
Kathleen continues to volunteer and provide legal aid at Prairie State Legal Services and the Metropolitan Family Services Legal Aid Society. She also served as the past president (2014-2016) of the Association of Women Attorneys of Lake County, a not-for-profit group of legal professionals throughout Lake County, Illinois who are committed to promoting the harmonious practice of law, advancing professional education and providing public service.
Kathleen received her Juris Doctorate from DePaul University College of Law where she graduated Cum Laude and was a member of the DePaul Law Review. She also earned her MBA from Long Island University and her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Farleigh Dickinson University.
